Preparation for Family World Travel

Our hope with this website is that it would inspire more families to travel the world. From our conversations with other parents, we learned that many of them want to do the same but have lots of questions on how to make it happen. The intent of this page is to help answer some of these questions and provide information on how to turn the “family world travel” dream into reality. There are four main questions that need to be answered when thinking about a family world trip, click on each link for more information.

We believe if you have questions #1-4 answered, the rest will work itself out. Having said that, there are still more things to be worked out before the trip:

2. Trip planning — How do I plan for such a massive trip? Where do we go? In what order?

3. Financial planning — How much does it cost? How do I pay for it? How can we minimize travel expenses?

4. Packing list — What should I bring on the trip? Which gears work best?

5. Virtual Mailbox — What should we do with our mail during travel?

6. Vaccines — What vaccines do I need for the countries I’m traveling to?

7. Travel visas — Which countries require travel visas for US citizens? How do I apply for them?

8. Travel insurance — Do I need them? Can I use credit card travel insurance?
