Family world travel - from dream to reality

The intent of creating this website sharing our journey around the world is to encourage other families to take the leap and go on similar journeys. When we thought about taking the leap of world travel, we felt overwhelmed by the planning and preparation needed, as well as the risks associated with the decision. We are glad we took this journey of our lifetime and want to make it easier for others to do the same. Our hope is that our experiences will entice and simplify your decision to go on your voyage and minimize your risks for doing so. Please let us know if you find this information useful and if you have any questions. We’ll be glad to help!

Our voyage spanned 17 countries and five continents over a period of eight months. We had planned to continue our journey through the Great Barrier Reef of Australia, onto the southern part of Africa and wrapping up with a month of exploration in South America. The danger and travel restrictions of COVID-19 resulted in us ending the trip early. All is well — We now have plenty of ideas for our future family trips!

One Year of Adventure Around the World

It’s a crazy idea. Traveling around the world for a year.

Both of us had great corporate jobs, and the two girls (M & A) were very happy in school and in their extracurricular activities. Why leave all this behind?

We love traveling as a family and have done quite a bit, but with both of us having corporate jobs, there just wasn’t enough time for more traveling. Despite successful careers and happy kids, something was missing. Traveling the world as a family became a dream, but with the girls growing up fast and M going to middle school, the window was closing in fast. It is now or never, and we decided to make it NOW. Let’s go!
